Writer. Artist. Wildlife observer. Clarity storyteller.
Who I Am
I’m Gareth Parkes — a writer, artist, and wildlife observer who believes in clarity, creativity, and the quiet strength found in nature. My work spans business writing, fiction, wildlife journals, and conservation art, but at the heart of everything I create is one simple idea:
Life becomes better when we learn to see clearly.
I write because clarity helps people grow. I paint because nature deserves to be celebrated. I journal because the outdoors restores me. I tell stories because imagination keeps hope alive.
This is who I am — a creator shaped by curiosity, fieldcraft, and the belief that better worlds are possible.

Where I Come From
I grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors — the kind of childhood shaped by weather, wildlife, and wide horizons. Over the years, that connection to nature became a foundation for my creativity. I was a Cub, a Boy Scout, a Soldier, a Game Ranger. I spent many years outdoors in Africa and Europe hiking and Camping, always with a camera, curious and looking, with pen, paper and a camera.
Birds, especially, have become a constant thread in my life. Their behaviour, migrations, and presence in wild places continue to inspire my writing, my art, and my travels.
I have experienced the outdoors in some extreme ways
Nature is where I reset. It’s where clarity returns. It’s where I feel most myself.
What I Create
My work spans several worlds, each connected by clarity and storytelling:
Business Writing
I write practical, structured systems to help young professionals become above average — not through cleverness, but through workable clarity.
Fiction
I write stories that explore human potential, courage, and hope. My fiction universes include:
- Fogborn — atmospheric, psychological, human
- WideSky Series — hopeful, expansive, adventurous
- Benji Boos Series — warm, curious, companion‑driven
- Colonel Fitch — disciplined, strategic, morally grounded
Each world reflects a different facet of how I see life.
Wildlife Journals
I document fieldcraft, bird behaviour, travel, and nature’s quiet moments — sharing them to help others reconnect with the outdoors.
Art & Conservation
I create wildlife paintings and calendars that celebrate nature and support conservation through my shop ecosystem.
Why I Do This Work
Because clarity matters. Because nature heals. Because stories help us imagine better futures. Because creativity connects us to something larger than ourselves.
Everything I create — whether a business framework, a wildlife journal, a painting, or a fictional world — is meant to help people:
- think better
- feel deeper
- imagine more
- reconnect with nature
- find calm
- find meaning
This is my purpose. This is my work. This is my life.
Benji & Fiona — My Companions in the Journey
Benji, my Sheltie, has been my field companion — he is old now, still sensitive, loyal, and always alert to the world around him. Fiona travels with me, shares my love of nature, and besides her camera and curiosity, brings warmth and courage to every journey.
They have been part of my story, part of my creativity, and part of the life behind the work for the last decade and a little more.
